On November 15, 2018 in Hanoi, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Jared Brading, Counsellor for Development Cooperation of the Embassy of Canada to Vietnam.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the SBV’s International Cooperation Department, the Banking Supervision Agency, the Information Technology Department and the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu congratulated Mr. Jared Brading on taking his new position at the Embassy of Canada and wished him a successful term in Vietnam.

He emphasized that, over the past time, Vietnam has received a lot of support and assistance from the Government of Canada for the socio-economic development, especially in the finance and banking sector, such as the projects of “Banking Regulation and Supervision Support (BRASS)” and “Strengthening the People’s Credit Fund Network (STEP). Thanks to the directions of the Steering Boards of the two Projects and the good coordination among the relevant entities of Canada and the SBV, many components of the two Projects have been implemented with encouraging results.
For his part, Mr. Jared Brading expressed his sincere thanks for the hospitality of the SBV Deputy Governor. About the STEP project, he said the Project sent a letter to the SBV to request for an approval of the SBV for a test run of a cloud-based CBS at selected pilot People’s Credit funds, and to request for support regarding the gender-disaggregated data for the MIS.

Concerning the requests from STEP Project, the SBV Deputy Governor assigned the relevant departments to study and recommend ways of conduct and coordination for the best results from the Projec’s implementation.
