On July 11, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son had a meeting with Mr. Jeong Woo Jin, Chargés d'affaires, and Mr. Kim Beom Gu, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son welcomed the Chargés d'affaires and the Counselor of the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam to visit and work with the SBV. He emphasized that the cooperative relations between Vietnam and Korea have been developing strongly in various fields; the effectively bilateral cooperation in the banking industry has contributed greatly to supporting the trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The SBV Deputy Governor shared that, in the recent years, South Korea has become the country with the largest number of credit institutions operating in Vietnam. By June, 2019, there were two wholly foreign-owned banks, eight branches of foreign banks, four finance companies and leasing companies from South Korean operating in Vietnam. South Korean banks in Vietnam are assessed to operate effectively, contributing greatly to supporting the bilateral trade and investment relations.
At the first meeting of the high-level Economic Dialogue between Vietnam and South Korea in June, the two Deputy Prime Ministers reaffirmed the determination to further develop the economic and political relations between the two countries, while emphasizing the important role of the cooperation in the banking sector.
In his thanks for the SBV Deputy Governor’s hospitality and useful information sharing, Mr. Jeong Woo Jin emphasized that the operations of South Korean credit institutions in Vietnam have been very robust. Over the past time, the SBV has paid much attention to and supported South Korean banks to operate effectively in Vietnam. At the same time, Mr. Jeong Woo Jin also wished to further promote the operations of South Korean banks in Vietnam.
Regarding the cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea in the banking sector, the SBV has established and coordinated closely with the partners being financial and monetary management agencies of South Korea, including the Bank of Korea, the Financial Services Commission and the Financial Supervisory Service...
