On August 26, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu had a meeting with Dr. Mangal Goswami, Executive Director of the South East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) Research and Training Centre.

At the meeting, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu welcomed Dr. Mangal Goswami, SEACEN Executive Director, to visit and attend SEACEN training course on IT Risks in Banks, which was organized in Hanoi by the SBV in collaboration with SEACEN. The SBV Deputy Governor congratulated Dr. Mangal Goswami on his appointment as Executive Director of SEACEN, and wished him a successful term.
The SBV Deputy Governor spoke highly of the research and training activities of the Centre, especially in relations to the functional operations and features of a central bank, such as monetary policy, banking inspection and supervision, financial stabilization, payment, central bank governance, etc., thereby supporting the member central banks and the financial authorities, including the SBV, to improve their capabilities of implementing their functions and tasks.
Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu also shared that, over the past time, the SBV has sent 350 officials to attend SEACEN training courses, seminars, conferences abroad and in Vietnam. Besides, in terms of research, the SBV has sent 34 officials to attend 11 research projects of SEACEN as a member. All of the attendants acknowledged SEACEN's activities with good quality, meeting effectively and promptly the requirements of tasks at the SBV.

Moreover, the SBV Deputy Governor hoped that SEACEN would continue to strengthen the quality of the training programs and research projects; regularly update the training contents; diversify forms and methods of organizing training programs with the participation of international specialists from the central banks of developed countries, focusing on the current big concerns, such as crypto currency, e-banking, cyber security,… He also requested SEACEN to organize pragmatic courses for the lecturers of the SBV Banking Training School, who are also leaders of the SBV Departments with experience in both theory and practice.
For his part, Dr. Mangal Goswami, SEACEN Executive Director thanked the Deputy Governor for the SBV’s support and cooperation with SEACEN over the past time. He also sent his invitation to the SBV Management Board to attend an event on Fintech organized by SEACEN in November, 2019 in Singapore. SEACEN Executive Director Mangal Goswami also expressed his belief that the cooperative relations between the SBV and SEACEN would continue to be further strengthened and developed in the coming time.
