On December 17, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh had a meeting with the officers of the German Embassy and the GIZ in Vietnam.
Also attending the meeting, on the SBV’s side, there were representatives from the SBV Monetary and Financial Stabilization Department, the Payment Department, the Department of Credit for Economic Sectors, the International Cooperation Department, the Organization and Personnel Department. On the side of the German Embassy and the GIZ in Vietnam, there were Mr. Weert Boerner, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, Mr. Sebastian Paust, First Counsellor for Development Cooperation, Mr. Michael Krakowski, Chief Technical Advisor of the GIZ-supported Macroeconomic Reform/Green Growth Program, and other officers of the GIZ Vietnam Office.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh expressed high evaluation for the close and effective cooperative relations between the SBV and the German Embassy and the GIZ Vietnam over the past time. The Deputy Governor also briefed the guests of the SBV’s achievements in the monetary policy management. He shared that the banking sector has obtained encouraging results with the banking restructuring and the NPL resolution. He cited the example of the restructuring of the Banking Supervision Agency toward increasing its efficiency and performance, the implementation of in-situ inspections and ex-situ supervision, risk-based supervision, the compilation and dissemination of evaluation reports on financial stability, and the coordination with the relevant authorities.

With the role of a governmental agency, the SBV has supported the implementation of the socio-economic development strategies and objectives, such as the Green Growth Strategy, the Sustainable Development Strategy; formulated and implemented the Action Plan of the banking industry in directing the capital flows into green and sustainable projects and for climate change responses; Financial Inclusion Strategy: developing digital banking, Fintech, digital financial services in order to increase the accessibility to financial services for the people and SMEs; participating in the formulation and the implementation of the National Socio-economic Development Strategy and Plan.
The representatives from the German Embassy and the GIZ Vietnam spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements over the past time, emphasizing particularly the role of the SBV in the national socio-economic development, stabilization of the macro-economy, as well as the SBV’s engagement in implementing the global agenda on climate change, sustainable development and green growth in Vietnam.
