On March 4, 2020 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with a delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC).
Also attending the meeting were representatives of the SBV entities, namely the Banking Supervision Agency, the Payment Department, the Monetary Policy Department, the Forex Management Department, the Department of Legal Affairs, the Credit Department and the IT Department. On the USABC's side, there were Mr. Alexander Feldman - President and CEO of the USABC, together with representatives of several big companies operating in Vietnam such as VISA, Citibank, Amazon Web Services, etc., as well as representatives of the US Embassy in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Mr. Alexander Feldman shared that, for this working visit, the USABC hopes to further enhance and promote the cooperative relations between Vietnam and the United States through exchanging measures to help Vietnam to take advantage of the strengths and the resources of the US business community in relevance to the areas of banking, investment, electronic payment, financial technology,... The senior representatives of the US companies also expressed their gratitude to the SBV as well as other Government ministries and agencies for having supported the US companies to operate effectively in Vietnam over the past time. They also hoped to continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam’s organizations and companies in the coming time.

Welcoming the delegation to visit and work with the SBV, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong spoke highly of the annual dialogues organized by the USABC through meetings and exchanges between senior representatives of US companies and the Governments, the concerned ministries and agencies in the Southeast Asian countries in general and Vietnam in particular. The SBV Deputy Governor affirmed that Vietnam, as an active member of the ASEAN, always make the best efforts to contribute to the development of the ASEAN-US strategic partnership. Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong emphasized that the SBV always supports and is willing to facilitate the banking cooperative relations between Vietnam and the United States. She also acknowledged the effectiveness of the active dialogues and the bilateral cooperation in resolving the existing issues between the Vietnamese banking industry and US businesses over the past time.
Having taken note of the positive reviews of the US businesses, the SBV Deputy Governor affirmed that with its stable macroeconomic and political conditions, Vietnam is a reliable destination for all foreign investors in general and US companies in particular. She also welcomed the goodwill to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the coming time expressed by the US side.
At the request of the delegation, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong discussed briefly with the USABC delegation about the SBV’s orientations for management of the monetary and credit policies in 2020, and shared information about the banking sector's priorities in 2020, i.e.: Continuing to strengthen and enhance the banking sector, promoting cashless payments and facilitating the reforms and innovations in the banking and finance sector, as well as preparing for a series of banking and financial events in ASEAN 2020 in which Vietnam assumes the role of the ASEAN Chair.
