According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) in July 2020 increased by 0.4% against that of June 2020; down by 0.17% as compared to December 2019 and up by 3.39% in comparison with that of the same period of 2019.
Specifically, the prices of nine out of eleven groups of commodities increased as compared to the previous month. In which, the price index of the group of traffic registered the highest increase of 3.91%; the group of housing and construction materials went up by 0.47%; the group of culture, entertainment and tourism was up by 0.3%; the group of household appliances and goods increased by 0.07%.
The group of footwear and hat increased by 0.06%; the group of beverage and cigarette increased by 0.02%; both of the group of medicine and healthcare and the group of education went up by 0.02%; the group of other commodities and services increased by 0.17%.
The prices of the remaining two groups decreased as compared to the previous month, of which the group of food and catering services was down by 0.18%; the group of postal services & telecommunication decreased by 0.02%.
The core inflation increased by 0.09% in July 2020 as compared to that of the previous month, and increased by 2.31% over the same time of 2019. The average core inflation for the first 7 months of 2020 was up by 2.74% as compared to that of the same period of 2019.
