SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong
Glorious 70 years' history
To all generations of leaders, officials, civil servants and employees of Vietnam’s banking sector
May 6, 2021 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the National Bank of Vietnam (May 6, 1951), the precursor of the State Bank of Vietnam. Since that memorable milestone of the birth of an independent national monetary system, our banking sector has been going along with the rise of the country, in war and in peace, in the construction as well as in the process of innovation, development and integration. It can be said that, in whatever period of time, all generations of leaders, officials, civil servants and employees of Vietnam Banking Sector always make the best efforts and devoted their best, contributing significantly to the remarkable achievements of the banking industry and of the country as a whole.
The Banking Sector is celebrating its 70th Birthday in a delightful atmosphere shared among all Vietnamese citizens for the increasing status and power of the country after 35 years pursuing the renovation policy. We are delighted with the great success of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and the whole country is actively preparing for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and people’s councils at all levels for the term of 2021-2026, which is expected to open a new chapter in the development history of the country.
Contributing to the general achievements of the country, the Banking Sector is proud that it has obtained comprehensive and encouraging results in all aspects, especially in controlling the inflation, maintaining the macro-economic stability and the stability of the money and forex markets, strengthening and developing safe and sound operations of the system of credit institutions, enhancing the international cooperation, innovating and improving the service quality, effectively meeting the capital demand of the economy, etc.
The remarkable contributions of the Banking Sector during the last 70 years have been recognized and acknowledged by the Party and the State, reflected through various noble awards. So far, the SBV has received the Gold Star Medal (2006), the Ho Chi Minh Medals (1996, 2011 and 2016). The special monetary institutions of the banking industry during the war, coded as N2683, B29 and C32, have been proudly awarded with the title of Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.
In the coming years, the world and domestic situations will be mixed with both advantages/ opportunities and difficulties/challenges, posing new issues and requirements, which will become more and more difficult and complicated for the Banking Sector to address. This requires each of the banking officials and employees to continue with the good traditions that have been built and refined in the last 70 years, develop their capabilities, wisdom, experience, and the sense of responsibility to accomplish successfully the assigned tasks. The SBV Board of Management strongly believes that, with the collective intellect and a steady will, the generation of leaders, officials, civil servants and employees of the Banking Sector today will follow their predecessors' steps and continue to create new glorious and heroic pages of history on the road of development and integration, proving the worthiness of the trust and responsibility assigned by the Party, the State and the people.
On the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Vietnam Banking Sector, on behalf of the SBV Party Committee and the SBV Board of Management, I would like to extend the deepest gratitude and the best wishes to all former revolutionary cadres, former leaders of the Banking Sector over time, the war invalids, the fallen ones' families, and all generations of leaders, officials, civil servants and employees of the Banking Sector. Wishing all of you and your families the best of health, happiness and successes!
Sincerely yours,
Nguyen Thi Hong
