According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) in June 2021 increased by 0.19% against that of May 2021, up by 1.62% as compared to that of December 2020, and up by 2.41% in comparison with the same time of 2020; the average CPI for the first six months of 2021 was up by 1.47% as compared to that of the same period last year.
Specifically, out of eleven groups of commodities, the prices of eight groups increased, while the prices of two groups decreased and the price of one group was unchanged.
Out of eight groups of commodities that increased, the group of traffic registered the highest increase of 1.07%; the group of housing and construction materials rose by 0.63%; the group of beverage and cigarette increased by 0.11%; the group of household appliances and goods rose by 0.1%; the group of education was up by 0.03%; the group of medicine and healthcare was up by 0.02%; the group of other commodities and services registered the lowest increase of 0.06%.
Out of two groups of commodities that decreased, the group of food and catering services declined by 0.13%; the group of culture, entertainment and tourism was down by 0.08%. The price index of the group of footwear and hat was unchanged.
The core inflation increased by 0.07% in June 2021 as compared with that of the previous month, and increased by 1.14% over the same time of 2020. The average core inflation for six months of 2021 was up by 0.87% as compared with that of the same period of 2020.
