In the morning of June 15, 2022, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Governor Nguyen Thi Hong had a working meeting with Ms. Robyn Mudie, Ambassador of Australia to Vietnam, who came to bid farewell before ending her term in Vietnam.
At the meeting, SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong congratulated Ms. Robyn Mudie on having successfully completed her term as Ambassador of Australia to Vietnam. The SBV Governor thanked the Australian Government and Madam Ambassador for having supported and promoted the cooperation between the two countries in all fields, including the banking sector. The Governor informed the Australian Ambassador about the directions of the Government of Vietnam on the implementation of robust solutions to maintain the macro-economic stability and to restructure the economy in the post-COVID context; including the cooperation with the Australian Government to implement the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES). For the banking sector, the SBV Governor highly appreciated the contributions of the Australian partners doing business in Vietnam, including the ANZ Bank Ltd., which was one of the first foreign banks in Vietnam and has been in operation for a long time, for their active and effective contributions as the bridges for the investment promotion between companies of the two countries.
The Ambassador of Australia to Vietnam expressed her impressions at Vietnam’s achievements in the socio-economic development in the first 6 months of 2022, despite the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Robyn Mudie also emphasized the role of the SBV in managing the monetary policy in a proactive and flexible manner, and the implementation of robust solutions and programs which have made an important contribution to maintaining the macroeconomic stability, supporting growth and ensuring social security. The Ambassador made high evaluation for the progress of economic cooperation between the two countries. She believed that the active coordination of the Government of Vietnam in general and the SBV in particular would ensure the successful implementation of the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES). The Australian Ambassador also expressed her pleasure to see the cooperation progress with the SBV in the field of human resource development. The SBV has been one of the top agencies within the Government of Vietnam that have sent officers to join the Australian Government's scholarship program.

At the meeting, SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and Ambassador Robyn Mudie also discussed on how to promote the bilateral cooperation in the coming time, such as: coordinating to conclude at an early stage and implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Financial Information Exchange, Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing between the SBV and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC); promoting the cooperation for the implementation of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion; expanding the cooperation in new areas, such as sustainable development, green growth, etc.
SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong affirmed that the potential and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries are very big, especially in high-quality human resource development for Vietnam. On this occasion, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong also congratulated the Ambassador on a very successful term in Vietnam, and believed that the Australian Embassy would continue to be an important bridge to promote the cooperative relations between Australia and Vietnam in general, and between the central banks of the two countries in particular.
At the end of the meeting, the SBV Governor wished the Ambassador good health and successes, and expressed her hope that Ms. Robyn Mudie would continue to pay attention to and support Vietnam, as well as make significant contributions to the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.
