According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) in July 2023 increased by 0.45% against that of June 2023, up by 1.13% as compared to that of December 2022, and up by 2.06% in comparison with that of the same period last year. For seven months of 2023, the average CPI rose by 3.12% over the same time period of 2022.
Out of eleven groups of commodities, the price indices of ten groups of commodities increased and the price index of one group of commodities decreased.
Among the ten groups that increased, the price index of the group of food and catering services rose by 0.63%; the group of beverages and cigarettes increased by 0.22%; the group of footwears and hats was up by 0.18%; the group of housing and construction materials increased by 0.51%; the group of household appliances and goods rose by 0.15%; the group of traffic was up by 0.11%; the group of culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.19%; the group of other commodities and services was up by 2.84% as compared to the prices of June 2023.
The group of postal services & telecommunication went down by 0.12% in comparison with that of June 2023.
The core inflation increased by 0.36% in July 2023 as compared with that of the previous month, and up by 4.11% over the same time of 2022. For seven months of 2023, the average core inflation was up by 4.65% as compared with that of the same period of 2022.
