On August 24, 2023, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung had a meeting with Mr. Alexander von zur Muelen, Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank AG and the regional CEO of Deutsche Bank for Asia Pacific (APAC).
An overview of the meeting
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung congratulated Mr. Alexander von zur Muelen on the remarkable business results that Deustche Bank – Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Branch in Vietnam has achieved. The SBV Deputy Governor highly acknowledged the compliance and the contributions of Deustche Bank – HCMC Branch to the provision of banking and investment solutions for the multinational companies, the big domestic corporations, and the financial institutions in Vietnam. In addition, the SBV Deputy Governor also took note of the sharing about Deustche Bank’s strategic orientations for its business in the coming time, and expressed his hope that Deustche Bank would continue to be a trusted partner of the SBV and Vietnamese commercial banks.

Moreover, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung and Mr. Alexander von zur Muelen also exchanged their views about the technical matters related to the development of electronic payments in support of the increasing demands in e-commerce.

Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung emphasized a number of key measures which would be conducted by the SBV in the coming time, such as the improvement of the legal frameworks and the infrastructure for Fintech; further promotion of cashless payments, payments via bank accounts in all sectors, as well as the enhancement of financial education to improve the accessibility to banking products and services.
Expressing his agreement with the SBV’s management viewpoints, Mr. Alexander von zur Muelen hoped that Deustche Bank would continue to receive the SBV’s support in terms of policy, and wished for a comprehensive and long term partnership between Deustche Bank and Vietnamese banks.
