Speaking at the Roundtable Meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha said that the banking cooperation between the two countries has obtained a lot of positive results over the past years. The ROK currently has the largest number of credit institutions present in Vietnam, under the forms of branches, wholly-foreign owned banks, or strategic shareholders of Vietnamese banks. Several Korean credit institutions have intentions to expand their operations in Vietnam. This reflects the fact that the operations of Korean credit institutions in Vietnam have been quite successful, contributing greatly to enhancing the economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The SBV Deputy Governor hoped that Korean credit institutions would further actively participate in the development of Vietnam’s banking sector, including such areas as digital transformation, green credit, etc., enhancing the provision of financial and banking services to Vietnamese businesses and customers. For the SBV’s side, with its role as a State management entity, the SBV would always listen to, accompany, and create favorable conditions for Korean investors in general and Korean credit institutions in particular to do business and make investment effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.
