On the sidelines of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK), on July 3, 3024, Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Min Soo Kwon, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea (BOK) at the BOK’s headquarters.
At the meeting, the two Deputy Governors affirmed the good bilateral relationship between the SBV and the BOK over the past time. Since the SBV and BOK signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, the information exchange and the technical assistance in 2004, the two sides have actively coordinated to implement effectively various experience sharing activities, including the Bank of Korea Knowledge Partnership Program (BOK-KPP).
Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha thanked for the BOK’s valuable support by sharing a lot of recommendations in various specialized areas over the past time, including the monetary policy, the forecasting and statistics, the payment and the State reserve management operations, etc. Through these activities, the two sides have developed an intensive cooperative relationship between the two central banks as well as between the two banking sectors.
Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha also shared about the macroeconomic situation in Vietnam and the SBV’s monetary policy management, and made some suggestions for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
For the BOK’s side, Mr. Min Soo Kwon acknowledged the practical cooperation results between the two sides over the past time and expressed his positive impression with the achievements that Vietnam and the SBV have made in controlling the inflation, maintaining the stability of the macroeconomy, etc. The BOK Deputy Governor also agreed to continue the experience sharing programs, focusing on the areas of mutual interest.

Following the meeting with the BOK Deputy Governor, Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha also had a meeting with Ms. Soohuyng Lee, Member of the Korean Monetary Policy Advisory Council, to discuss about the macroeconomic situations and the monetary policy management in the two countries, as well as the issues of mutual interest related to the international economy.
