In Vietnam, the SBV is the lead agency in implementing the Government's schemes on financial inclusion. Therefore, to implement the National Financial Inclusion Strategy by 2025, with orientations towards 2030, as stated in Decision No. 149/QD-TTg dated January 22, 2024 issued by the Prime Minister, the SBV has coordinated with the relevant Ministries and agencies to develop various financial education programs, such as "Smart Money", “Holding the purse-strings”, as well as a series of financial education events in 2024 with the theme of “Smart Money”, etc., in order to improve the people's awareness, behaviors, and habits in using financial products and services. In particular, the SBV has been focusing on the young generation, students, and school children to help raise their awareness of money, as well as to improve their skills in saving, payment, and borrowing to use money effectively.
In the coming time, the SBV would continue to coordinate with the entities, functional agencies, high schools, colleges, universities,... to develop and organize more financial communication and education programs related to the areas of payment and borrowing in a creative manner, "easy to understand - easy to remember - easy to follow", in order to improve the awareness of the consumers, especially the young generations, in using financial and banking products and services, contributing to building a healthy financial community in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bui Huu Toan, Chairman of the Council of the BAV, shared that the series of events would be an opportunity for students to obtain better understanding about financial and banking products and services, the history of the Vietnamese currency, as well as the legal regulations related to banking and financial operations; helping students to access the banks and the credit institutions, thereby seeking internship and employment opportunities.
