During the time from 22 to 27 September 2024, an inter-agency Delegation from Vietnam headed by Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) attended the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), which was held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese Delegation discussed and voted on the matters regarding the membership and the observer status of the APG, as well as the governance and the management, the mutual evaluation process of the APG, and the matters related to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The Vietnamese Delegation also participated in other meeting sessions, including the Plenary Meeting related to the report from the mutual evaluation of the APG for Vietnam, a meeting with the donors, and the bilateral discussions with Japan and the United States.

According to the plan of the 4th mutual evaluation round adopted at the Meeting, the APG plans to conduct the 3rd mutual evaluation of the mechanisms for anti-money laundering/counter-terrorism financing/counter-proliferation financing in Vietnam in 2027. The 3rd mutual evaluation report for Vietnam will be adopted at the Plenary Meeting in 2028, together with the mutual evaluation report for Bhutan.
At the Meeting, the participants agreed and congratulated Japan and Australia on assuming the role as the rotating co-Chairs of the APG for a 2-year term, starting from September 2024.
