Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung meets JICA’s Delegation

At the meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung welcomed Mr. Shimizu Akira to return to Vietnam and work with the SBV after having completed a successful working term as the Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office for the 2020-2022 period. The Deputy Governor also thanked JICA for its financial and technical assistance provided to Vietnam as well as the SBV over the past time.

The SBV Deputy Governor also proposed that in the coming time, JICA and Japanese agencies continue to maintain their regular exchanges and provide more technical assistance to Vietnam, focusing on anti-money laundering, especially when Japan is about to assume the role of Co-Chair of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) for the next term.

In his statement, Mr. Shimizu Akira expressed his pleasure with the long-lasting and firm relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, and between JICA and the SBV in particular. Mr. Shimizu Akira also shared his condolences with the losses of the Vietnamese people caused by Typhoon 3 (also known as Typhoon Yagi). Mr. Shimizu Akira also expressed his high evaluation for the quick support by the SBV and the banking sector to the businesses affected by the Typhoon to recover their production and business operations.

Regarding the fields of sustainable development and green finance, according to Mr. Shimizu Akira, JICA has been issuing bonds in USD with the guarantee from the Japanese Government, with the goal of mobilizing capital to be used for the loans to the private sector through the “Private Sector Investment Financing” (PSIF) program.
