Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with the delegation from World Bank (WB) in Hanoi on November 5.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang expressed his sincere thank to WB for supporting the SBV in consultancy, project implementation, human resource training, information and experience sharing about the development and oversight of payment system. He hoped that in the coming time, the WB would continue closely coordinating with the SBV in the field of payment in particular and in other sectors related to the banking operations.
For his part, Mr. Carlo Corazza, senior specialist in payment system of the WB, said that the WB delegation participated in presenting and experience sharing at the workshop on central bank oversight: International standards and assessment of FMIs, which was attended by over 50 representatives from the SBV entities, Vietnam Securities Depository, Vietnam Banks’ Association and Banknetvn.
In addition, the two sides exchanged their views on many substances related to payment activities of a central bank, of which focusing on the issuance of legal framework, the selection of payment models, the formulation of national development strategy of non-cash payment…Moreover, the two sides discussed the enhancement of technical assistance from the WB for the SBV in order to develop the payment system and activities in the coming time to improve the capacity of SBV officials in the field of payment system oversight.
