Vietnam Development Partnership Forum 2015 (VDPF 2015) “Towards competitive, inclusive and sustainable growth” was organized in Hanoi on December 5, under the co-chairmanship of Minister Bui Quang Vinh of Planning and Investment, and Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, Country Director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the VDPF 2015 and delivered an important speech.
Speaking at the VDPF 2015, WB Country Director Victoria Kwakwa highly appreciated Vietnam’s encouraging results in stabilizing macro-economy, enhancing economic growth, completing legal framework, developing infrastructure and enhancing human resources quality as well as important results in international integration over the past time. She said that Vietnam has obtained success in the first five years of Plan on Socio-economic development for 2011 – 2020 period and has been preparing for strategic and important decisions, outlining priority orientations for the second half of the Plan on Socio-economic development for 2011 – 2020 period, and the tasks for 2016. She recommended several priority issues for discussion related to labor productivity, environmental issues, economic growth, poverty reduction and social benefits as well as capacity and accountability of the Government and governmental agencies.
At the VDPF 2015, representatives focused on discussing three topics: Opportunities and Challenges when Vietnam intensively integrated into world economy; globally economic context and priority for macro –economic management; combination of implementing sustainable growth goal set by the United Nation and socio-economic development plan of Vietnam…
In his speech, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the effectively cooperative relation between the Government and the partners, and expressed his pleasure at encouraging results from VDPF 2013 and 2014. He stated that with the enormous effort of the whole politic system and the public as well as effective support from international community, Vietnam has obtained important achievements in various fields. The Prime Minister outlined the development objective for the next five years (2016-2020) with four key contents: more sustainable and higher economic growth at 6.5%-7% on the base of macro-economic stability; developing culture, ensuring progress, equality, social protection and welfare, gradually improve social welfare and living standards; protecting and improving living environment; ensuring peaceful environment, political security and social safety.
In addition, Vietnam has consistently implemented three strategic breakthrough: (1) continuing to completing legal framework, especially for market economy and the formulation of legitimate socialist State; (2) developing education and training, especially high quality human resource training in line with the requirement of socio-economic development and international integration connecting with modern scientific technology; (3) promulgating appropriate policies on mobilizing resources to invest in developing advanced infrastructure.
In order to implement the mentioned above objectives, Vietnam will effectively implement five groups of measures: (1) continuing to ensure growth, macro-economic stability and balances of the economy; (2) continuing to completing legal framework for market economy; (3) proactively integrate into international economy; (4) focusing on developing culture, social protection, social welfare, improve living standards; (5) continuing to improve national management capacity, economic management capacity, develop legitimate State, improve administrative reform, investing environment and enhance competitive capacity.
Prime Minister asserted that Vietnamese Government will ensure political security, social safety for Vietnamese citizen and enterprises as well as foreign investors and individuals in Vietnam.
