According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) slightly increases by 0.02% in December against the previous month, and by 0.63% as compared to that of 2014.
Specifically, the price of seven groups of commodities out of eleven groups of commodities slightly increases. The price of the group of housing and construction materials registers the highest increase of 0.5%. The price of the groups of garments, textiles, hats and footwear; food and catering services ; beverage and cigarette; other commodities and services; and medicine and health services increases by 0.32%, 0.16%, 0.16%, 0.15%, 0.14%, and 0.04% respectively.
The price of four groups of commodities decreases, of which the price of the group of transport registered the highest decrease of 1.57%. The price of the groups of family equipment and appliances; culture, entertainment and tourism; and postal services declines by 0.1%, 0.05% and 0.03% respectively.
The gold price is down by 2.8% while USD appreciates by 0.69% against VND.
In 2015, the price of nine groups of commodities increases while the price of two groups of commodities decreases as compared to 2014. The price of the group of education registers the highest increase of 6.45%; the price of food and catering services increases by 1.48%. The price of the group of transport registers the highest decrease of 11.92% as compared to that of 2014.
