Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Mori Mutsuya, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Vietnam, in Hanoi on February 1.
At the meeting, Mr. Mori Mutsuya exchanged with Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien about the orientation towards supporting Vietnam’s agricultural field in the coming time through projects related to enhancement of agricultural value chains in many provinces of Vietnam. He recommended several ideas for Project of developing agricultural value chains in Lam Dong province, which is planned to be funded by JICA. Moreover, he invited Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien to attend the Conference on sustainable agricultural finance in Vietnam co- organized by JICA and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien highly appreciated the JICA’s orientation of supporting agriculture and rural development and the Conference. He emphasized that agricultural field is one of the priority fields Vietnamese Government and the SBV focus on. He said that in the recent time, the SBV has promulgated many guiding documents and implemented encouraging policies on improving agricultural credit and obtained many positive results. However, in the context of international integration, Vietnam will face competitive pressure on agricultural products. Therefore, the SBV hoped for supports from Japan to develop the agricultural field sustainably and effectively.
