Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director for Vietnam, Mr Eric Sidgwick and ADB delegation under the series of ADB’s working sessions with Govermental agencies in order to formulate Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) Vietnam from 2016 to 2020. This meeting took place on March 21st, 2016 at the SBV’s headquarter.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong stated that the Government of Vietnam and the SBV take CPS formulation and implementation the top priority. Deputy Governor hopes Mr Eric and his colleagues would cooperate closely with Governmental agencies in the process of CPS formulation.
Eric Sidgwick and ADB delegation provided an overview on the 2016- 2020 CPS Draft with three strategic pillars including: A more innovative and productivity economy; enhance service provision more evenly; improve the sustainable environment and adaptation to climate change.
SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong highly appreciated ADB’s draft of CPS Vietnam and its close relevance to the 2011 – 2020 social economy development Strategy and 2011 – 2020 social economy development Plan of Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam highly appreciates preferential credits from international financial and banking organizations and continue to call on international donators to support for social and economic development cause of Vietnam.
SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong also presented SBV point of view on the CPS draft with a focus on three pillars and cross-cutting themes, portfolio improvements and potentials of ADB lending plan after 2019; ADB priorities in supporting provinces and banking sectors. In addition, the SBV Deputy Governor suggested ADB to extent lending for other sectors as payment system development, moneytary policy reform, financial stability, NPLs resolution and banking information system.
Mr Eric Sidgwick, ADB country director for Vietnam affirmed that ADB Vietnam Resident Mission will actively exchange information and cooperate with Governmental Agencies and Ministries in Vietnam to make CPS formulation effective and high-performanced.
