Mr. Le Minh Hung, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has conveyed a Message of Greetings to mark the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of the Banking Sector. The full text of his message as follows:
President Ho Chi Minh signed Decision 15/SL dated May 5th, 1951 on the establishment of the Vietnam National Bank to open a glorious and historic new chapter in Vietnam’s Banking sector.
Following the process of 65 years of construction and development, under the visionary leadership of the Vietnamese Communist Party together with the scrupulous attention of the State and Government, generations of employees in Vietnam's banking industry have made enormous efforts to overcome numerous difficulties and challenges, including losses and sacrifices while fulfilling their assigned tasks, making a great contribution to revolutionary liberation and the national cause of innovation, development and integration.
We are proud of the Banking Sector’s contributions, which have been recognized by the Party, State and people and bestowed with various prestigious awards such as: the Gold Star Order in 2006; the Ho Chi Minh Orders in 1996 and 2011; the Medal of Hero of the People's Armed Forces granted to Units N2683, B29 and C32 in 2009 and 2014 for their exceptional accomplishments in the War of Resistance against America. Recently, on the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of the Banking Sector, the SBV is honored to have the Ho Chi Minh Order bestowed on it for the third time.
On behalf of the CPV Commission and Management Board of the SBV, I would like to convey my best wishes and heartfelt gratitude to the generations of staffs, especially to the banking sectors’ senior veteran cadres, the leaders of the industry through all times, and especially the war invalids, martyrs and their families for this glorious and proud achievement.
We're excited to celebrate this 65th anniversary following the CPV 12th National Congress. Concurrently, society is actively preparing for the election of the 14th National Assembly and People's deputies Council at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure. Adapting to this turning-point in a new stage, the present generation of banking officials and employees must fully acknowledge the meaningful achievements of previous generations, especially their valuable experience through 30 years of innovation and the comprehensive restructuring of the banking system between 2011-2015. We also need to comprehensively evaluate the limitations, challenges and difficulties to overcome and accomplish the tasks entrusted and assigned to us by the Party, State and the Vietnamese people.
Over the past 65 years, Vietnam's banking sector has built and gradually developed its monetary and banking operations, creating a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable development during the next stage. The efficiency and effectiveness of the SBV’s management is increasingly improving, hence increasingly meeting the requirements of managing monetary policy and guiding banking activities.
The credit institution system continues to be decisively restructured in term of scale and quality to more effectively meet the demands of monetary and banking services and match up to international practices and standards.
But these achievements aside, in the short term, the complicated and unexpected development of the world economy, the limitations of the domestic economic together with various internal difficulties could bring numerous challenges for Vietnam Banking sector, requiring the whole industry to become more proactive, flexible, timely and effective in the process of implementing the assigned tasks. In the near future, the challenges and difficulties of the banking sector will become greater, while the responsibilities entrusted to us by the 12th National Congress of CPV are also more demanding.
It is our strong belief that the present generation of banking officials and employees will bring into full play the glorious tradition and valuable accomplishments of the past 65 years and work together and, by their common effort and wholehearted unity, will to continue to add further glorious historical pages to the process of innovation and integration.
May I wish you all and your families the best of health, happiness and success!
Best regard,
Le Minh Hung
Member of the Party Central Committee
Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam
