Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with Comrade Leonid Kalashnikov, Member of the Presidium, Secretary of the Party Central Committee in charge of foreign affairs cum Deputy Head of Russian State Duma International Affairs Committee.
The meeting was attended by Comrade V.V Kumin, Russian State Duma Congressman, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Market Committee of the Duma, the Plenipotentiary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) on economic issues; representatives of SBV from International Cooperation Department, Foreign Exchange Management Department, Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint- stock Bank (Techcombank) and International Commission – Communist Party of Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed CPRF Delegation for working visit to SBV. The SBV Deputy Governor briefted the context of trading – economic relationship between the two sides, especially in financial-banking sector.
In terms of banking sector, the cooperative ties between Vietnam and Russian Federation are consolidated and developed. The authorities of banking and monetary industries of the two sides have signed a number of fundamental cooperation agreements. Especially, the two sides formulated the Working Group Vietnam – Russia on inter-bank cooperation in the framework of Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee co-hosted by The Bank of Russia and the State Bank of Vietnam with the participation of commercial banks from the two countries. The main cooperative fields in the framework of the working group include: Strengthening agent relations between the banks of the two countries; Establishing Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB); Operating the bilateral trade payment system in local currencies; Connecting the card payment system.
Mr L.I.Kalashnicov sincerely thanked SBV Deputy Governor for warmly welcoming the Delegation and valuable information on Vietnam socio-economy as well as banking activities. He highly appreciated the traditional friendship cooperation between Vietnam and Russia. He affirmed that Vietnam is considered as Russia’s close friend and siblings with a traditional cooperation between the two countries. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation determined to maintain cooperative principles with Vietnam, although Russia is currently affected by the US and the West embargo imposed on Russia, that partly effected to trading economic cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong stated that Vietnam always welcome and facilitate for foreign investors in general and Russian investors in particular.
