Within the framework of the official visit of Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue of the National Assembly of Vietnam (NA) to the United Kingdom (UK), Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the SBV and the UK National Crime Agency (NCA). Attending the ceremony, there was Ms. Priti Patel, Secretary of the State for the UK Home Department, and representatives from the UK’s and Vietnam’s Ministries and agencies.
At the exchange ceremony of the MoU, Ms. Priti Patel made high evaluation for the cooperation and the efforts of the responsible agencies of Vietnam and the UK in reaching agreement on the details in the MoU on Exchanging Information and Intelligence related to Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing and Related Crimes.
The MoU between the SBV and the UK NCA will create an additional channel for information exchanges, which is necessary for the anti-crime cooperation between the two countries, specifically the information exchanges to support the fight against money laundering, terrorism financing and related crimes. Besides, this MoU is also expected to create a premise for expanding the cooperation in this area between the competent authorities of the two countries.

Ms. Priti Patel, Secretary of the UK Home Department, emphasized the significance of the MoU signing, which had reflected the seriousness of Vietnam in implementing the recommendations on enhancing the international cooperation in the field of anti-money laundering, as well as in implementing the post-review recommendations of the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) for the relevant mechanisms in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his wishes that the two countries would maintain the dialogue channel to regularly exchange information and facilitate the professional operations on anti-money laundering. In addition, the NA Chairman also hoped that Vietnam would continue to receive the strong support from the UK in the restructuring of the legal corridor, the improvement of the performance of the relevant mechanisms.
