The General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) has announced that the consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 0.05% in February against the previous month.
Specifically, the price of transport group registered the highest increase of 4.41% due to the falling oil price, thus pushing down the country's CPI. The price of the two groups of housing and construction material and postal services decreased by 0.41% and 0.02% respectively.
The price of the group of the food and catering services was only up by 0.53%, with the price of food and foodstuff increasing by 0.13% and 0.75%.
The price of the group of beverage and cigarette increased by 0.56%. The price of the group of garment, footwear and headwear rose by 0.45%. The price of the group of family equipment and appliances slightly increased.
The gold price was up by 2.7% as compared to the previous period; and VND appreciated by 0.2% against the US dollar.
